Aviles Engineering Corporation has been providing Geotechnical Engineering,
Construction Materials Testing and Inspection Services, Environmental Consulting, Site
Assessment Services, and Construction Management for 30 years in the Houston Area. AEC
also operates special project on-site testing facilities and provides geotechnical services on various TxDOT projects.
AEC's professional staff of 50+ employees has broad and varied cumulative experience in the various
services. AEC's Management Staff, Shou Ting Hu, P.E.,
Ronald E. Ortwerth, P.E., and Truman Louderback, R.E.M.
have combined experience of over 130 years providing geotechnical
engineering and exploration; construction materials testing and inspection services; construction
management, construction supervision and inspection, environmental assessment, permitting and consulting services
in Houston, the State of Texas and the Gulf Coast area.
Our Geotechnical Engineering division is headed by Shou Ting Hu, P.E.
with 25 years experience in providing geotechnical services and
has a total of 4 licensed geotechnical engineers and 4 laboratory technicians. This is one of
the most experienced geotechnical groups in Houston and has provided geotechnical services on many
significant projects in the Houston area. AEC's Geotechnical Group has completed over 500 geotechnical
projects and over $4 mil in net fees over the past 5 years.
AEC's Construction Materials Engineering, Testing and Inspection
division is headed by Ronald E. Ortwerth, P.E., Shane Ressman, P.E., and Jeff Sherman with 35, 15, and 30 years of experience respectively
in providing construction materials testing and inspection services in the Houston Area. These engineers and managers
provide support for 30+ ACI, TxDOT and NICET Certified Technicians with experience ranging from 30 years
to 1 year in construction materials testing and inspection. AEC's Materials Group is also one of the
strongest materials groups in Houston and has provided services on many significant projects. AEC has
completed materials testing and inspection services on over 300 construction materials testing projects
and over $6.5 mil in fees over the past 5 years.
AEC's Environmental Division is headed by
Truman Louderback, a Registered Environmental Manager with over
30 years of comprehensive environmental management and consulting experience.
The Environmental Division also contains a licensed Professional Geoscientist and Texas Commission on
Environmental Quality Corrective Action Project Manager. Our expertise includes, but is not limited to;
Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments; environmental permitting and negotiations with regulatory
agencies; cultural and natural resource surveys and clearances; and litigation and public hearing support.
Within the past 5 years, the AEC Environmental Division has completed over 125 environmental projects and
over $1.1 mil in fees.
AEC is an Accredited Laboratory for technical competence in Geotechnical Testing and
Construction Materials Testing (see our scope of accreditation)
by the American Association of Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) and is one
of only a few firms in the Houston Area that is also Accredited by AASHTO for Testing of Construction
Materials in accordance with AASHTO R18 We are inspected on regular tours by AMRL and CCRL.
AEC uses state of the art computer programs for pavement design, settlement analysis, pile design and slope
stability analysis to assure accurate and technically supported designs. All laboratory testing is input into
password protected documents to ensure accuracy of calculations and all reporting is also provided on password
protected documents to perform checks on field and laboratory information.
AEC is certified as a Small Business with METRO and the Port of Houston Authority;
is certified as a Minority/Disadvantaged Business Enterprise with the Texas Unified Certification Program,
City of Houston, Houston Independent School District, State of Texas and GSC and a HUB with the State of
Texas (TBPC), Houston Business Council, City of Austin and City of San Antonio.
